Cuticle Nippers and Acrylic Nippers are constructed differently. A Cuticle Nipper's jaw is very fine to allow close cutting of the cuticles, but could break if used for acrylic applications! See our Acrylic/Cuticle Nipper Article. Another major factor in nipper selection is the joint.

	This is a Lap Joint Cuticle Nipper. The nipper is constructed like a scissor and peened together. This type of nipper construction is good for most technicians. Technicians who torque the handles of their nippers while they cut, have a tendency of loosening the nippers and making them "floppy". They need to use a box joint nipper.
	This is a Box Joint Cuticle Nipper. Notice that one blade's joint fits through the other. This locks the blades into position and maintains a more stable blade alignment. This type of joint is superior, more expensive, but not always necessary.

Jaw Sizes are approximately the following lengths:
1/4 Jaw = 4mm (3/16"), 1/2 Jaw = 6mm (1/4"), Full Jaw = 8mm (5/16")
